Director, writer and composer, Avilés has a strong interest in the intersection between the worldly and the spiritual. Debuting in Berlinale 2023 with the short film 'Daydreaming so vividly about our Spanish holidays', the film went on to screen at over 100 international festivals and was nominated for Best Short Film at both the European Film Awards and the Gaudí Awards. Stallion and a Crystal Ball is his second film, world premiere at Berlinale 2026 competing for a Golden Bear. Its themes of teenage spirituality, magic and angst connect it to his debut feature film project in early stages of development.
